The building consists of 35,000sqm of floor space spread over 11 floors containing 6 large lecture theatres, 70 small and medium teaching spaces and associated office space. The design of the building is quite complex in that the vast majority of rooms and spaces are geometric in shape with very few right angles. Madigan Surveying was involved in the project from the outset as a subcontractor for the builder- Brookfield Multiplex. Contract works consisted of:
  • establishment of the title and grid system on site
  • recording of existing conditions of surrounding buildings and streets through                     a dilapidation survey prior to commencement of works
  • settlement monitoring of adjoining buildings
  • asbuilt of earthwork benches
  • marking of grid alignments on concrete slabs for use by following trades
  • asbuilt of core structure
  • creation of lease plans for Citipower substation
Due to the complex nature of the building design Madigan Surveying was commissioned by numerous subcontractors to undertake their daily setout requirements. This provided the subcontractors the ability to focus on their primary goal of construction works without having to worry about the time and costs associated with setout. Setout works included:
  • Internal walls for Expoconti
  • Secondary steel structures for GFC Industries.
  • Floor grinding areas for Cut & Core Grind & Seal
  • Lecture theatre structural steel for Ardon Construction
  • Access panel and air conditioning grilles for AG Coombs
  • Asbuilt of voids for handrail design for Fabmetal
  • Miscellaneous setout for Watters Electrical
  • Asbuilts of complex structural steel using a Leica C10 laser scanner and subsequent creation of asbuilt 3d model
  • Numerous miscellaneous setout and asbuilts for the builder Brookfield Multiplex
